Getting Canadian entrepreneurs out and in the open while maximizing exposure to the international community is the reason why Startup Canada launched its beta website called ‘1000 Startups’. The site is part of its new campaign that will have the profile of 1000 entrepreneurs, built by their well-known team of volunteers. Casting a spotlight on the Canadian entrepreneurs, the organization is hoping that their network of more than 55,000 followers will be able to follow and even contact them if needed. This will help in introducing the lesser known startups to social media channels and increase traffic generation while followers can receive important news updates and announcements.
For Startup Canada, this is more of a patriotic innovation to come out and support those people who are trying to make the business environment in their country a better one for the future. “As a nation, we need to celebrate and support our entrepreneurs, because their success benefits us all,” said Startup Canada’s CEO Victoria Lennox, according to Techvibes. “1000 Startups will showcase the diversity of Canada’s entrepreneurs, helping to broaden our understanding of what it means to be an entrepreneur, show entrepreneurs across Canada that they are not alone, and help to create a national community of startups sharing, learning and paying it forward together.”
Many may not realize it, but from anything like healthcare, manufacturing to top quality mobile apps and innovation in the energy and retail department, entrepreneurs in Canada are doing it all. “We want to celebrate these startups’ entrepreneurial journeys and continue to deliver innovative ways to help more Canadian entrepreneurs succeed,” added Project Lead Allison Smith.
The procedure for being featured on their website is quite simple. Every week, Startup Canada will accept 25 submissions and entrepreneurs can apply to be one of those until the website reaches the intended 1000. Showing off their idea and gaining access to peer mentorship programs and deals from Startup Canada’s partners and sponsors are just some of the benefits from being featured.
Having launched itself back in 2012, Startup Canada has a track record of being successful in its ventures because of the creativity and uniqueness. Following their launch, the organization took a trip across Canada to engage with over 20,000 entrepreneurs, making them one of the biggest in the field. This has also resulted in direct and indirect fund raising initiatives to help those with bright ideas for a better future for not only Canada, but the world as well.
