Fans of Tim Hortons coffee can now enjoy their favourite coffee one serving at a time thanks to the Canadian icon announced partnership with Kraft Foods’ Tassimo On-Demand Beverage System. The special single serving packets, known as T DISCs will be available for purchase at over 3,000 locations across Canada and the U.S. along with online sales available through timhortons.com and tassimo.ca.
The move comes on a hot streak for the company who have recently introduced WiFi at several of their locations nation-wide (TQ was on it). Branching into new revenue streams albeit still in coffee sales especially online is a sign of a smart company, and Tassimo is allowing many such companies to be smart.
The Kraft Foods subsidiary currently has 950,000 of their machines in households and offices across Canada and has recently signed agreements with Second Cup and various other brewers to allow them to tap into the $800 million North American market. Tassimo offers a patented barcode scanning brewing system that allows Tim Hortons’ premium blend, decaf and latte coffee brewed to exact specifications in terms of water temperature, water quantity and brew time.
We anticipate that the T DISC option will be superior and preferred to current at home brewing options available from the Canadian giant. According to their press release, eight out of ten cups drank in Canada outside of the home are from Tim Hortons which is absolutely staggering considering how much coffee that must be.
“Kraft Foods is already a long-time strategic foodservice partner of Tim Hortons and their TASSIMO brand is a high quality product we are excited to bring into our restaurants,” said Paul House, Executive Chairman, CEO & President, Tim Hortons. “We look forward to entering this rapidly growing market and making home brewing even more convenient for Tim Hortons coffee fans.”
