Iconic e-commerce, consumer electronics and cloud computing services company Amazon is looking to expand their family of tablets which currently features the 7” Kindle Fire. The confirmation for up to six new tablets of various sizes including one featuring a 10” display comes via Staples president Demos Parneros and Reuters.
The move is seen by many to be a means of leveraging the company’s vast commerce business by making it easier to connect products with customers via tablets. Items such as MP3s, movies, TV shows and applications would be available on all Kindles, items which have replaced hot Amazon sellers such as CDs, DVDs which have experienced declining sales totals.
TQ reported earlier this month that Amazon was also contemplating getting into the Smartphone business as the world moves more and more towards mobile. The effectiveness of generating sales for the other aspect of its business aside, a wider variety of tablets available results in better choice for end consumers, who are granted the luxury of choice. With such variety, Amazon will be hard pressed to beat.
Mobile Payments will definitely grow in the future, with a company like Amazon potentially holding value due to its customer knowledge and android-baseds.
