Saskatchewan Telecommunications Holding Corporation (SaskTel) will be launching a cutting edge 4G LTE network on Thursday, January 31. The province has double the number of towers for LTE than other networks and the SaskTel service should be 33 percent faster compared to what other providers are offering in the area. For now the new network will only be available to users in Regina and Saskatoon while some areas, namely Pense and White City, should also have access to the LTE network.

The faster 4G network should encompass Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Balgonie, Estevan, Weyburn and Yorkton at the end of 2013. SaskTel has also put aside $400 million to help upgrade service through out the region.

SaskTel is Saskatchewan’s leading telecommunication service provider with approximately 1.4 million customers. The company handles a massive network that provides many services like voice, data, internet and many others. LTE (long-term evolution) is a standard that is used for very fast  mobile and data networks that are slowly being implemented across the globe.
