One of Canada’s leading consumer electronics and wireless retailer, The Source, has announced to open 20 stores in the country this year. These stores are going to be small as people are now turning more towards buying different products online rather than personally visiting big stores.
The Source provides an easy opportunity for consumers to buy the desired products online, and its announcement to open 20 more stores has come just a day after Best Buy closed a few of its shops. The Source CEO Charles Brown is pleased of the environment the consumers experience at his stores. He told the Toronto Star about opening small stores:
“There’s been this miniaturization of product. Things have just gotten smaller – other than televisions — which have gone up to 110 inches. It just works perfectly in our small-box store.”
The Source has approximately 700 stores in Canada. Last year it added around 67 stores in the country and the success has encouraged them to open 20 more stores this year. The new stores will be present across Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland. In a statement, Brown said of the expansion:
“The Source’s ‟small box‟ format is really meeting the needs of consumers looking for electronics and mobile products. The pace of change in the industry is so fast that it can make the buying experience feel complex. Our easy-to-shop store format and team of knowledgeable associates are hitting the mark in providing a very accessible and intimate shopping experience that is resonating with Canadians.”
Along with opening 20 new stores in 2013, The Source will also renovate 50 of its existing stores in the country this year.
