OMERS Ventures will be able to further effectively present its services in the specialised areas of technology, media and telecommunication as it has now acquired services of three new members for its advisory board.
These members are visionaries who have earned respect and fame through their respective work and their experience is certainly going to help OMERS Ventures explore new areas of growth. The new members who have joined the advisory board include Ken Nickerson, Steven Woods, and Michael Serbinis.
Mr. Nickerson specialises in research and development, software engineering and business strategy. Currently, he is the CEO of iBinary, a private investment and R&D firm, and has a number of achievements credited under his name. He has served many reputable companies including Microsoft. He is also credited for bringing Hotmail to Microsoft. He has also held a position of a board member in a number of companies and still holds some of them.
Dr. Woods has also served time in many companies known worldwide. He has also worked for Google. His innovative nature has made him a great leader and is currently the site lead and engineering director at Google’s largest Canadian product development location in Kitchener-Waterloo. He has also founded many companies which he later sold. Dr. Woods also has a very strong academic record. Apart from holding a PhD in computer science, he has won a number of academic awards.
Michael Serbinis is also another valuable addition to the advisory board. He has expertise in the online industry and has provided assistance in founding some companies online and their growth after their establishment. He is currently the CEO at Kobo, a global leader in eReading. He was part of Kobo when it was founded and went on to grow it. He also played a role when Japanese internet giant Rakuten bought Kobo for $315 million. He is still aiming to reach out to even bigger audience through Kobo and the company seems well on track to attain more success under his leadership.
The addition of these three members supposedly will aid OMERS Ventures as their respective areas of expertise are of great importance to OMERS Ventures. John Ruffolo, CEO of OMERS Ventures, said of these three members:
