Apple has finally released the 128Gb version of the iPad for buyers who can now purchase the new device from the App Store. The California-based tech giant uploaded the details of the new device to its site on Tuesday, February 5. Apple’s site also assures potential buyers that their orders will be shipped within one to three days time. The storage capacity of the upgraded version of the iPad is greater than previous tablets and the price has also made a huge jump upwards. Apple has launched the 128GB iPad in two versions. The first one is Wi-Fi enabled and costs $799. The second one has both Wi-Fi + LTE and this edition is priced at $929. Besides price and improved storage capacity the rest of the features of the 128GB iPad are almost identical to the previously released versions. The new device is available in two colors of black and white.

Earlier Apple offered a 9.7-inch iPad with retina display with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage capacities. However, a lot of concern was shown when they launched the third gen iPad with retina display because the apps, which can work with high resolution would require more storing capacity and the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage were thought to be insufficient, especially at the entry level device. As a result of these concerns, Apple decided to bring in the 128GB version in iPad with retina display, so it can wipe out all the fears regarding the low storage by allowing users of its new slate to hold as many high resolution apps as they can.

Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Apple, Philip Schiller said that, “With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”

With the launch of 128Gb iPad with retina display all the previous rumors related to the arrival of the tablet have been proven true. Plus Apple has released the device at a very crucial time as just a week after its availability the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet will hit stores. It seems that Cupertino-based company is trying to show the world that it is not scared of what’s coming its way, as the tech giant looks pretty confident especially after boosting the storage capacity of the new iPad.
