Nokia Sets Eyes On BlackBerry

Beating Samsung and Apple in the smartphone market is a daunting task for every other company as these two dominate the global market rather easily. That is why the slot of being the third-best in the market is always up for competition and Finland-based Nokia seems to have realised it. It is hard for Nokia to give competition to, let alone beat, Samsung and Apple, but it can certainly secure the number three position by competing with and beating Canadian-based BlackBerry.

Bloomberg reports that Nokia is relying on its partnership with Microsoft to beat BlackBerry after it failed to pose any serious threat to Samsung and Apple. Nokia’s recently released Lumia smartphones run on Microsoft’s operating system and have Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

BlackBerry that had a strong hold among corporate customers lost its market share when Apple and Samsung started exerting their dominance. The company has now come up with a new smartphone, the Z10, hoping to increase the number of its loyal customers. BlackBerry has also come up with a new operating system, BlackBerry 10, offering pretty exciting features.

Both Nokia and Lumia are used by different business enterprises and at the moment they are trying to capture each other’s customers. This presents a perfect platform for them to compete for the number three position in the global smartphone market.

Many analysts are of the view that Nokia can leave behind BlackBerry because it has joined hands with Microsoft and the association of these two companies can yield benefits for both of them. Still, it is not easy to predict how the business world will adopt to the new Lumia smartphones and whether they will prefer them over the new BlackBerry smartphones.

Whatever the case is, it should also be taken into consideration that Samsung and Apple are going to push hard to reach the business world as well. Collectively, Apple and Samsung have thrown many operating systems out of the picture and whoever gets the number three position will have to, willingly or unwillingly, face competition from these two giants. As far as competition between Nokia and BlackBerry is concerned, we will know what response the new BlackBerry phone gets from the U.S. market and then predict which company has edge over the other.
