In spite of the fact that Apple’s shares are not performing well since last September, the California-based technology giant was able to grasp the number one spot in the annual Fortune list in which Apple was declared the “World’s Most Admired Company” for the sixth year in a row. This certainly was a great honour for Tim Cook’s company, as Apple has managed to maintain the momentum regardless of internal shakeups, severe competition from rival companies, specifically Samsung and supply constraints. More importantly the late Steve Job’s company managed to post a net income of $13 billion in the last quarter of 2012 that made Apple the most profitable corporation in the entire globe.

Apart from Apple, three other technology companies were able to make it to the top ten of the annual Fortune list. Google notch the second spot, Amazon secured the third place, whereas IBM came in sixth. Overall tech companies dominated the annual Fortune list. The scores given to the companies in the listing were based on nine categories, which include Financial soundness, Innovation, corporate assets, Quality of management, People management, Social responsibility, Global competitiveness and Long-term investment and finally Quality of products or services.

The jury that decided the annual Fortune list through large-scale polling was comprised of industry analysts, directors and corporate executives. Apple remained successful in securing full marks from these judges in all nine categories, which enabled it to become the “World’s Most Admired Company” for the sixth time. The flagship smartphone from Apple, the iPhone, has played a very crucial role in putting the company on top as its latest model the iPhone 5 is the best selling smartphone in the world, whereas its predecessor the iPhone 4S remained the second best selling smartphone in the world.

Samsung is considered by many as the number one rival of Apple failed to give the Cupertino company a tough time in this race as the South Korean electronics manufacturer was ranked 35th by the judges in the annual Fortune list.

Previously Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has reassured company’s shareholders during a meeting that they should not worry over the poor performance of their stock because according to him its future is still quite bright plus they are exploring new product categories . In addition to this, Cook also said that they are also well aware of the competition and have not stuck their heads in the sand.
