The first two months of 2013 remained pretty busy for Microsoft, as the multinational corporation not only introduced the latest edition of its Surface tablet, it also produced numerous Windows Phone 8-based handsets in association with its most reliable partner Nokia and a few other manufacturers. In addition to this, Microsoft has also boosted the number of Windows Phone 8 apps, which have now surpassed the 130,000 mark. However, now it seems that the ride is about to end as the US-based software company has made it known through its latest job posting that Microsoft may not bring a new update for Windows Phone 8 until the holiday shopping season will begin.
Generally, Microsoft does not reveal much about its Windows Phone updates beforehand, as it is often found pretty tight-lipped in this case. Nevertheless, the latest job posting for software development engineer to test phones that appeared late last week, has unveiled its future plans related to the next update of Windows Phone 8.
The job post notes that, “This is a great time to join as we’re completing our current release [and] are getting ready for our next release targeting the holiday of this year and we’re chartered with keeping the momentum for Windows Phone by bringing new killer devices and delightful user experiences. There are enormous growth opportunities in this role and organization.”
Although, Microsoft has mentioned in this post that they will bring in new devices and give a wonderful experience to their users, the company did not shed light on what to expect from the new products.
This was not the first time that a job post from Microsoft has revealed its future plan, as they often indicate upcoming products from the company in these postings. The best example in this case is of an advertisement that was posted sometime ago and hinted about a new product that was dubbed as “Windows Blue.” The alleged new product from Microsoft is anticipated to be the next version of its tile-based OS and service.
Windows Phone is considered as a key product for Microsoft, but so far it has failed to ignite a spark among the consumers because a majority of users are still impressed by Android phones and Apple’s iPhone. May be that is why the world’s leading software company has referred to Windows Phone as “one of the most exciting challenges in Microsoft” in its latest job post.
