Washington D.C. based mobile game creator Imangi Studios, which was founded and started by husband and wife duo Keith Shepherd and Natalia Luckyanova has reached an incredible milestone. The small studio and their ridiculously popular Temple Run mobile game have passed the 100 million download mark.

The game, which is available for free download on the iOS, Android and Amazon platforms is simple in its gameplay and highly addictive to boot. The concept involves an Indiana Jones style explorer named Guy Dangerous who has captured an invaluable idol from an exotic temple. The temple is overrun by demon monkeys who chase Guy relentlessly as he navigates over, under and around various obstacles while collecting coins. The speed of the gameplay increases as time goes on, making it highly entertaining. The coins go towards buying new characters as well as other aids and devices to make your game your own.

Of course, I am explaining this to you as if you are not one of the 100 million downloaders (not to mention the innumerable ones who have played on the devices of others). An infographic (see below) was released by Imangi to commemorate the milestone. Of the impressive 100 million downloads, iOS makes up 68% of the total with Google Play being 30% and Amazon making up the remaining 2%. 20% of the downloads are from Singapore and 13% from the US. Overall gameplay by users has surpassed an amazing 54,000 years.

Congratulations to Imangi Studios, Temple Run and its fans. They will be able to enjoy an upcoming comic book series.
