A few days ago TQ reported on rumors related to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV. According to that story the Galaxy S IV would boast a new feature called eye-scrolling. With the alleged eye-scrolling feature users would be able to read text on their Galaxy S IV without using their hands. The new function can sense the position of a users’ eyes on the screen and can automatically scroll down the page when it finds the users gaze at the bottom of the display. However, just a day before the launch of Samsung’s flagship device, Bloomberg reported that the S IV would not feature the alleged eye scrolling functionality. In fact, the next Galaxy will have a new feature that will stop and start a video according to the movement of user’s eye.

The alternative feature sounds interesting, but unfortunately Samsung’s fellow Korean smartphone manufacturer LG took the hype away from the company at the last moment. According to the latest update, LG has announced the same feature for its Optimus G Pro on Wednesday, March 13, a day before the launching ceremony of the S IV. LG has announced this new feature as a part of its Value Pack update and named it Smart Video. For the reason that it uses the front camera to track the placement of users’ eyes and just when the user takes his or her eyes off the screen, the video stops. The video playback starts once again just as the user fixes his or her eyes back on the screen.

Moreover, the Value Pack update of LG also sports a feature called Dual Camera It allows users to snap a single photo within a photo by using both front and rear cameras of Optimus G Pro at the same time. Moreover, LG is not restricting the latest Value Pack updates to its flagship smartphone, as the company will make them a part of its upcoming models as well.

Initially, Samsung had done a great job of preventing the S IV from appearing in leaked images, but just a couple of days before its launch a lot of information and images of the forthcoming smartphone appeared online, which seems to have spoiled Samsung’s big party on March 14. On top of that LG has announced a similar feature to make things even more bitter for the Korean tech giant.
