After posting relatively better results for the company in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013, BlackBerry chief Thorsten Heins is optimistic about the company’s prospects in the next fiscal year, hoping the Canadian-based smartphone manufacturer will go on to register even better results in the days to come.
BlackBerry announced results of the quarter on Thursday, presenting some odds-defying results that left many analysts in awe. The company, although did not do exceptionally well, was able to increase its revenue from the last quarter, apparently because of the success of its new Z10 smartphone.
According to Heins, the current success of the company is the result of the efforts the management put in over the course of last year. “We have implemented numerous changes at BlackBerry over the past year and those changes have resulted in the Company returning to profitability in the fourth quarter,” he said.
BlackBerry introduced the new BlackBerry 10 operating system this year and the Z10 is the first device to use it. Heins thinks that the new platform has served the customers well and has allured many new customers. He said:
“With the launch of BlackBerry 10, we have introduced the newest and what we believe to be the most innovative mobile computing platform in the market today. Customers love the device and the user experience, and our teams and partners are now focused on getting those devices into the hands of BlackBerry consumer and enterprise customers.”
Maintaining an optimistic approach about the future of the company, Heins hoped for better results in the next fiscal year and said:
“As we go into our new fiscal year, we are excited with the opportunities for the BlackBerry 10 platform, and the commitments we are seeing from our global developers and partners. We are also excited about the new, dynamic culture at BlackBerry, where we are laser-focused on continuing to drive efficiency and improve the Company’s profitability while driving innovation. We have built an engine that is able to drive improved financial performance at lower volumes, which should allow us to generate additional benefits from higher volumes in the future.”
