After being made available in Europe, Canada, and the U.S., BlackBerry is fast exploring Asian markets as the company continues with its ambition of expanding its consumer base and increasing market penetration all over the world. The new smartphone (Z10) of the company is already available in main markets of India and China, but now BlackBerry has set its eyes on Thailand where the new smartphone was launched recently.
The Z10 is the first BlackBerry smartphone with touch-screen features. The phone was launched earlier this year after much hue and cry during the past couple of years in which the company saw its competitors, especially Apple and Samsung, rising to fame and dominating the market. After the release of the new Z10 smartphone, BlackBerry has made an attempt to regain its lost glory and it is hopeful that during the next few years it will successfully achieve its goal. Benoit Nalin, BlackBerry country director for Thailand and Vietnam, said via Bangkok Post:
“We believe we have a chance of getting back to where we were, helped by our new, innovative phone features.”
In Thailand, the smartphone will be available at rates Apple’s iPhone5 and Samsung’s Galaxy S3 are sold. BlackBerry will release another smartphone this month. The Q10 smartphone, unlike the Z10, will have a physical keyboard that BlackBerry users really admire. This smartphone, however, will be available in Thailand by June.
The new smartphone is running the BB10 operating system and the BlackBerry authorities are of the view that the new OS, coupled with a large number of apps, will be able to win more consumers in Thailand. BlackBerry recently released its quarterly report in which the company mentioned positive outcomes, much to the surprise of many analysts. Talking about the smartphone’s success globally, Nalin said:
“After a couple of weeks from the launch of the Z10 model globally, the BB10-powered handset got a positive response from users, with over 1 million units shipped.”
BlackBerry will open three experience centres in Thailand to demonstrate its product. Moreover, the Z10 will not be the only BlackBerry phone for the consumers. In fact, the Canadian smartphone manufacturers will keep older models of the BlackBerry devices in the market that will be available at a low price.
