According to a report the South Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung is building a mid-level smartphone that will be bigger than its Galaxy Note phablet. This report came from ET News in Korea, which has also revealed that the alleged smartphone will be known as the Galaxy Mega and it will boast a 6.3-inch screen. With this specification the Galaxy Mega will be included in the category of smaller tablets, which includes Google Nexus 7 which has a 7-inch screen. Besides this ET News has also claimed in the report that Galaxy Mega will feature a dual-core Exynos processor and it will pack two cameras, one on the front with 2-megapixel lens and other at the back with a 8-megapixel lens.

To add fuel to this rumour, SamMobile has also stated that Samsung is gearing up to launch a bigger smartphone than Galaxy Note II, but the site does not agree with ET News over the specifications of the Galaxy Mega. For the reason that SamMobile believes the display of the Mega will be no more than 5.8-inches, which means that the device will be slightly bigger (0.3-inches) than the Galaxy Note II. Whereas, the chipset it will bear is going to be a 1.4GHz Exynos processor with 1GB RAM.

If the aforementioned reports proves true then the Galaxy Mega will once again bring Samsung a lot of media attention after the launch of Galaxy S IV did not grasp many headlines. One reason behind Samsung’s disappearance could be that rumours of other forthcoming handsets such as iPhone 5S have put the company on the back seat for a while. However, now with the launch of Galaxy Mega, Samsung is looking to hop on the front seat once again.

During Mid-March Samsung announced its much anticipated flagship device the Galaxy S IV at a big press meeting that was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. During this event attendees also got to experience the Galaxy S IV that sports a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-core 1.8GHz Exnyos 5 Octa processor for overseas and quad-core 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600 processor for the U.S. and few other countries.

AT&T will open the pre-orders for Samsung Galaxy S IV for its consumers in the U.S. from April 16. Therefore, it is expected that Samsung may announce the mid-level Galaxy Mega sometime after making the Galaxy S IV available for sale.
