Samsung is not only making contribution in the development of new technology, it is also doing its bit to help society improve with the introduction of its latest electronics. A recent example in this regard is the Riverside Elementary school in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia in which the South Korean company has launched the first ever “Samsung School”. Port Coquitlam is a Canadiaan that is located not too far from Vancouver. The area’s Riverside Elementary is hosting the “Samsung School” making it the first of its kind in the country. Samsung describes the “Samsung School” as “the classroom of the future,” because it’s a complete integrated educational solution that utilizes technology to empower both students and teachers at the same time.

The physics class of grade 11 in the Samsung School is actually equipped with a 65-inch digital e-board and “powerful Samsung software” in order to assimilate with the 35 Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablets, each for one student. So the teacher cannot only share the content with students by displaying it on their tablets, but also keep an eye on the screens of each student by checking out thumbnails views of the students tablets.  In this way teachers keep track of every student’s progress in the digital classroom. Moreover, the Samsung classroom also enables the teacher to teach from any place in the room, which allows her to give the lecture while walking around rather than just standing at a fix place or in front of the room.

On this occasion, Director of Business Solutions for Samsung Canada, Philippe Lozier said that, “Samsung School is the classroom of the future, and it’s here today for Canadian teachers and students. In a technology-savvy world, educators have been eager to see digital classroom innovation move beyond just piecemeal device integration and toward a fully integrated solution. The pilot program in partnership with Riverside Secondary School will help us showcase that the solution is here and ready, and can give educators the ability to digitally engage their students like never before.”

According to Samsung research has revealed that improvements were observed in class convenience with the introduction of the digital classroom. In addition to this, improvements were also observed in lesson comprehension and student engagement since the class is equipped with the latest technology. Up till now, 21 schools in different parts of the world have started Samsung School.

Principal of Riverside Secondary School, Anthony Ciolfitto stated that, “Although we’ve only just introduced Samsung School, it’s already bringing such a dynamic energy to the classroom. As educators, there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a class full of students who are engaged and excited to learn. This is revolutionizing the classroom experience for our students and teachers alike.”
