Several reports have emerged so far claiming that Apple will launch the iPad 5 in the second quarter of this year, most probably in April, but so far the speculation has not received any confirmation. However, in contrast to these reports, the stories which suggested that the fifth generation of the iPad would take its design cues from iPad Mini seems to be proving true, as two new leaked images of possible iPad 5 bezel have appeared online and are showing that its design is in line with its 7.9-inch sibling. Nowhereelse.fr has issued these two leaked images of the alleged iPad 5 bezel on Wednesday, April 10th, which depicts that the side edges of the fifth gen of iPad will be narrower as compared to the existing models.

It means that even though that Apple perhaps has trimmed down the side edges of the future slate, but it did not compromise on the size of the screen because the display size matches with the current 10-inch iPad models. At the same time the rim could easily fit on a smaller device. Moreover, Apple has also enhanced its iOS operating system so it could adjust according to the narrow bezels without registering the accidental screen gestures or actions on the sides of future iPads. Still one cannot call these latest images legitimate as they are the first components of the next iPad, which have made their way to the internet.

Therefore, it requires confirmation, so let’s wait for few more leaks, as it is highly likely that more leaked images of the fifth gen of iPad may also appear online in the coming days. To the extent the launch date of the iPad 5 is concerned it is not certain at this point in time because previous reports were claiming that it will be released during this month. However, now a new report have asserted that rumours of iPad 5’s April launch are incorrect, as Digitimes has learned from its sources that Apple will commence the production of the next gen full size slate later this summer.

As usual the report came from the tech industry of Taiwan and it quotes supply chain sources. The rumour reaffirms that the next iPad will have a slim bezel like iPad Mini. While the display of the slate will be supplied by Sharp and LG Display and the touch panels will be provided by ITO, Teijin and TPK.
