According to the latest report from Pocket-Lint, Apple has signed Foster + Partners, an architecture firm owned by British architect Norman Foster, to redesign its retail stores across the world. Foster + Partners is the architecture firm that is already working on the spaceship-like campus of Apple in order to cut its $5 billion budget by one billion. Apart from this, Foster + Partners is known for creating architecture wonders like the astonishing McLaren Technology Centre, the World Trade Centre and more. The move by Apple was not less than a surprise because the company has recently got the the trademark for the design of their outlet on January 2013. Previously, Apple had always gone with architecture firm 8 Inc to design retail stores like the company outlet on Regent Street, London.

It was the late Steve Jobs who had actually first introduced Foster + Partners to Apple, so they could help the company design their spaceship-like headquarter. At this point in time, the UFO-like campus from Apple is under construction and the estimated cost that Apple is likely to bear for its construction is close to $5 billion, which makes it more costly than the World Trade Centre.

“Expect it to be a good few years before we see changes: designs for the Apple HQ were unveiled in June 2011 and it still isn’t finished. Apple’s coveted retail network continues to grow at an impressive rate. Flagship stores in both Shanghai and India continue to extend the company’s reach.”

A spokeswoman of Foster + Partners said that, “Any project for Apple is confidential and therefore we are unable to comment.”

At this point in time, the retail network of Apple is making more money than any other square footage in the globe, it could be judged from the fact that it earns approximately double what any other retailer in the U.S. earns.

It is hard to predict at this time  whether Foster will really work on Apple’s retail stores. If the report does prove to be true, it should not be a very big surprise because the architecture firm has already formed a strong relationship with the technology company after working on a significant project like the spaceship campus. Moreover, Apple has worked more with the 8 Inc firm, as mentioned above, but at the same time Cupertino-based company was also working with some other architecture firms as well.
