Just like people in other parts of the world, Canadians have been eagerly waiting for the release of the Samsung Galaxy S IV also known as a “Life Companion.” Finally Samsung Canada has given the good news through its Twitter account that “The GALAXY S4 begins arriving April 27th. Pre-order it with carriers starting today to have it first.” Bell, TELUS, Videotron and Virgin have also announced on Monday, April 15th that they will make the Galaxy S IV available to their customers. The plans of all these Canadian telecom carriers are not much different from one another, as they have offered the Galaxy S IV for about $200 on a three year contract.
However, that is not all, as the press release from TELUS has revealed something more exciting about the upcoming Galaxy S IV. Here is the piece from TELUS’s press release: “The Samsung GALAXY S4 is available to pre-order today from TELUS with device delivery commencing on April 27, and in-store availability starting May 3. At Canadian launch, two colour options will be available – Black Mist and White Frost; with additional colour options to follow later this year.”
Canadians will be able to see the Galaxy S IV in colours other than white frost and black mist sometime later this year, but the press release did not give any indication about what type of additional colours will be available for the device. Previously, Samsung has made the Galaxy S III available in Marble White, Pebble Blue, Garnet Red, Amber Brown, Amethyst Purple, Titanium Grey and Sapphire Black.
TELUS has started taking pre-orders from Monday and it has set the price at $199 for a 3-year contract. Encouraging its customers TELUS has said that, “Be one of the first to pre-order your Samsung GALAXY S4 and get it up to 1 week before it’s available in stores*.” The Canadian carrier also made it known that customers can avail this offer “While quantities last. Limited quantities, so act quick.” The “device balance is $501,” which indicates that out-and-out price of S IV is $700 for the 16GB version.
TELUS also made it known that “Devices will begin shipping April 26th. Please allow 1-3 business days for delivery.” Therefore, folks who pre-order the Galaxy S IV will be able to get their hands on the new flagship device from Samsung prior to others, whereas the rest of the potential buyers have to wait until May 3rd which is the official release date of the handset. To make the offer more alluring for those to pre-order the S IV, TELUS has announced free music for six months from Rdio.
Rogers, Bell and Virgin will also make the 16GB edition of the Galaxy S IV available to their customers, as they have also started accepting pre-orders for the device at a price of $199.95 for a 3-year term, whereas the outright price will be $699.95. Videotron, on the other hand, has the lowest outright price for the S IV, $649.95, but its contract price is the same, $199.95.
