A source familiar with Foxconn operational plans has told Bloomberg that Apple had given a green signal to the Hon Hai Precision to add more workers at its Zhengzhou plant, which indicates that perhaps the production of the next iPhone and inexpensive version of iPhone is about to start. Here are the exact words from Bloomberg’s report: “Workers have been recruited at Foxconn’s plant in Zhengzhou, eastern China, for the past month, ending a hiring freeze imposed in February, said the person, who asked not to be named because the plans haven’t been made public. The extra workers will assemble the new device as well as existing models and have been added at Apple’s request to boost capacity, the person said.”
Mentioning the number of employees at the massive Foxconn facility, spokesman of the Taiwan-based company, Liu Kun divulged that there are about 250,000 to 300,000 Chinese people working in the plant. However, Kun did not give any idea about the workers who have been hired by the company last month.
Later The Wall Street Journal unveiled the numbers of workers Foxconn recently added to its Zhengzhou plant.
“The Taiwanese company said Monday it has added about 10,000 assembly-line workers a week in Zhengzhou, its major production facility for iPhones, since the last week of March.”
“We have been very busy recently as we will start mass-producing the new iPhone soon, said a Zhengzhou-based Foxconn executive who has direct knowledge of production plans.”
To the extent the next iPhone is concerned, so far a number of reports have emerged regarding the alleged device but there is nothing common between them, except for one thing, which is that most of them claims the flagship device will be launched in June. If these rumors prove true then there is just one and half months left in the launch of the next iPhone or iPhone 5S. However, if that really happens then it will be the first time Apple is going to launch the next iPhone just less than a year after the release of iPhone 5.
Nevertheless, KGI Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo did not seem to agree with these reports related to the release of the iPhone 5S, as according to him Apple might face production line problems, which could possibly delay the launch of the next flagship smartphone of the company.
Rumour also has it that the next iPhone will bear fingerprint scanner too in order to make transactions through NFC more secure. This speculation emerged after Apple acquired AuthenTec, a firm that specialises in this technology.
