About two months ago Japanese electronics manufacturer Sony has organised a press conference in which the company shed light on its forthcoming gaming console PlayStation 4. Now its arch rival Microsoft has sent out invites for its May 21st event, when the software giant will reveal the next edition of its famous gaming console Xbox. Microsoft is holding the event at its Xbox campus at 10:00 am. Besides this the event can also be seen live through Xbox LIVE, Xbox.com and on Spike TV in Canada and US. Director Programming for Xbox LIVE, Larry Hryb has also shared some information about the event through a blog post, which reads as:

“On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com. If you are in the US or Canada, you can also watch the broadcast on Spike TV.

On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games.

We are thrilled to pull back the curtain and reveal what we’ve been working on.”

Fans all across the world were eagerly waiting for the launch of the next generation of Xbox for quite some time now, but their hopes increased when Sony announced its PlayStation 4 a couple of months ago. Now Xbox launch is official so gamers must be excited to see the new device to find out how Microsoft has made it different from the previous editions. And strong rumours are swirling in the tech world that since Microsoft’s Xbox is not only a gaming console, it is also a media box therefore the next gen of Xbox, code-named Durango, will boast more TV and entertainment content along with games.

Rumour also has it that Microsoft has developed a more advance Kinect sensor, which it will also unveil at the upcoming event. However, at the time it cannot be said with surety whether or not the upcoming model of Xbox will boast these features. Therefore, we have to wait until May 21st when Microsoft will lift the curtain off its next generation gaming console.
