Unlike substandard manufacturers, multinational corporations do not betray their customers by putting erroneous or less than advertised features on their products. Due to this reason, consumers all around the world prefer to buy products from reputable brands or multinational companies in order to avoid any problems. However, it seems that sometimes even global brands deceive their customers, as recently it has been revealed that the 16GB version of Samsung Galaxy S IV actually has an internal storage capacity of 8.49GB. It means that users can only store 8.49GB of data in their Galaxy S IV, whereas the remaining space is being utilised by the built-in apps and OS of the brand new smartphone. On top of this, Samsung has not denied the fact and to cover things up the Galaxy device maker gave a very lame excuse in a mail, which it had sent to CNET. The company said that “you’re getting more features and a higher-res display in return” in exchange for smaller storage capacity. This does not sound like a good trade at all.
Here is the full statement of Samsung:
“For the Galaxy S4 16GB model, approximately 6.85GB occupies [the] system part of internal memory, which is 1GB bigger than that of the Galaxy S3, in order to provide [a] high resolution display and more powerful features to our consumers.”
The source has indicated that it is beyond understanding how on earth the 1080p display of Samsung Galaxy S IV would exhaust so much storage. However, instead of rectifying the problem with the storage of 16G S IV, Samsung covered its imperfection by saying that for better user experience it has provided “a microSD slot on Galaxy S4 for extension of memory.” But the most upsetting thing is that the Korean company does not allow users to install apps on the microSD. Therefore, even on extending the memory of S IV through microSD card users would not be able to get full benefits of more storage space.
When people got to know about the less than advertised storing capacity of the 16GB S IV through CNET’s Facebook page, majority of them got annoyed and some of them had even called it a “a scam and mis-advertising”.
