Speculation Continues to Grow Over Apple’s Next Product

As the Worldwide Developer Conference nears, speculations continue to grow over Apple’s strategy with respect to bringing out its new product in the market. The conference will take place in June and it is expected that Apple will come up with at least some clue about its plans.

 

So far, Apple has remained tight-lipped over numerous speculations during the past few months. Many analysts have come with different theories that Apple could adopt to face its competitors but the technology giant has not responded officially to any of the news.

 

There are a few very strong rumours that have been doing the rounds of late about Apple’s next product. One is regarding a cost-effective version of iPhone. It has been rumoured since a few months that in an attempt to target market that cannot afford high-end devices, Apple would come up with cheaper version of iPhone this year. Apple has not commented on the development, but many analysts are of the view that Apple must come up with such a product. Guardian quoted Steve Brazier, chief executive of Canalys, as saying:

 

“They [Apple] have been slow to react to the fact that the market has changed. It gives them a huge advantage in economies of scale to build just one model, but they could have four or five. Look at the Mac [computer range] – they have those in all sorts of different sizes and shapes and configurations.”

 

However, some analysts think that the cost-effective smartphone from Apple would not be launched this year and in fact the company would go on to market a new device in its iPhone series. According to Neil Mawston, executive director of the analysis company Strategy Analytics, via Guardian:

 

“The odds this year of a larger iPhone are zero.” He thinks that the new product would be iPhone 5S. “That’s what we’re hearing from our supply chain sources in the Far East. It seems the iPhone 5S will be pretty similar to the iPhone 5.”

 

Meanwhile, Apple TV and iWatch are also in debate. Some observers are of the view that Apple could launch either of the two products to satisfy its investors, but again the company has not yet uttered a word with respect to its plans. With first quarter of the year already over, we might soon hear from Apple about its next product, which, according to some analysts, could be launched later in the Christmas quarter.
