The Q10 BlackBerry smartphone, which was released in Canada and Britian this week, has received very solid response in these countries, according to different reports. The Q10 is the second in the duo of smartphones that the Canadian-based company launched earlier this year in order to get back in the market and attempt to regain its lost glory. The first one, the Z10, had a virtual keyboard, but the Q10 comes with a physical keyboard, a feature that BlackBerry fans have always admired.
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek said in a note to his clients, via Reuters:
“Our checks indicate broad sellouts with generally limited stock otherwise. Based on our store checks, the BlackBerry Q10 has been selling extremely well and has been sold out or seeing limited availability in Toronto and across the U.K.”
It comes as a good development for BlackBerry to see the Q10 smartphone receiving such a solid response. Still, it is quite early to reach a conclusion as it is the report that has come soon after the launch. The real progress of the smartphone can be ascertained after a few weeks when we will have much better data to analyse the company’s situation and its prospects.
Nevertheless, BlackBerry seems to be getting back in the game gradually, and after numerous speculations during the past few years, the company seems to be finally getting back on track. Recently, the U.S. Defense Department also gave its staff clearance to use BlackBerry and other smartphones manufactured by other companies including Samsung. Apple is expected to get the nod soon too.
In this case, strong sales figures from Canada and Britain might allure the Pentagon’s staff to try out the new Q10 smartphone. It should be noted that initially only BlackBerry was used by the department’s personnel, but now in order to establish a multi-vendor environment the department has cleared other companies as well. So now BlackBerry is facing a competition with respect to attracting clients of the Defense Department and the reports from other countries might help the company’s cause.
