Finnish mobile manufacturer Nokia has launched its free of charge music streaming service, Nokia Music, in Canada this week. The music service is exclusive to Lumia handsets, which according to the company is providing their customers a “simple and delightful way to discover and enjoy music.” Nokia also revealed on this occasion that users will not see any ads, subscription or sign up over this service. However, the most significant thing about Nokia Music is that its catalogue houses 18 million songs, which is a massive collection and it will be pretty tough for consumers not to find a song from this compilation.

Another top notch feature of Nokia’s free music streaming service is Mix Radio where users can stream music from a collection of over 150 exclusive playlists without paying any charges. This suite of playlists is curated by the employees of Nokia and it is quite alike Songza but lacks variety.

According to the famous musicologist and radio broadcaster, Alon Cross, “Technology has shaped the listening behaviour of many Canadians and transformed the music industry by giving music lovers more listening choices. However, with so many options and so much music out there, it’s easy to get overwhelmed (and even discouraged) when it comes to discovering new music. What Nokia Music offers is a seamless, easy-to-use way to listen to new and old music, all with a touch of a button.”

Moreover, music lovers can produce their own soundtrack with Nokia Music. In addition, playlists of the music service can also be enjoyed even if the user is offline. Aside from this, users will also be able to locate live music shows taking place close to them with the help of Nokia Music’s “Gig Finder” feature.

There is also Nokia Music+ which is giving away a monthly subscription fee of $3.99 that will give users access to a large number of song, skips over playlists and high quality streaming through wifi along with other top features.

Vice President of Nokia Entertainment, Jyrki Rosenberg said that, “We believe that Nokia Music offers great value and will revolutionize the way Canadian music lovers can explore, discover and enjoy music. We are always striving to give Canadians the best service possible and we have worked extra hard to ensure Nokia Music meets the expectations of the demanding, active and inspired music fans in Canada.”
