The popular music subscription service, Rdio has made it known on Wednesday, May 22nd that it has introduced the updated version of its native iOS and Android apps. The new edition of Rdio’s iOS and Android apps sports a change of user interface and new features as well. On this occasion, Rdio also announced that the latest editions of its app can now be downloaded from Google Play and Apple’s App Store. According to the blog of Rdio, the ad-free music service is “bringing a unified Rdio experience regardless of platform. Among various UI improvements, you’ll find the following new features:

– Find People — We believe music should be social which is why following other listeners is now easier on our mobile apps. Tap Find People, a new addition to the side navigation, to see a curated list of recommended friends and their music taste (based on your connected Twitter and Facebook) alongside hand-picked artists and influencers like Questlove of The Roots and NPR Music.

– Label Pages — Just like on our web and desktop apps, you can now search for a record label and find its top albums and artists.

– Updated Side Navigation — The side navigation features a new blurred background and a cleaner interface, making it easier to access your profile, sort through playlists, and more.”

With these new features and interface changes, Rdio will be able to compete against rivals such as Spotify and Google that has recently joined the league by launching a video service, which search engine giant has smartly named Vdio. Rdio is currently facing some stiff competition from its rival services, hopefully with the launch  of updated editions it will be able to beat the heat.

Currently, Rdio service can be enjoyed in Canada, USA, UK, Germany, France, Brazil, Spain, Australia, Denmark, Portugal, Finland, Estonia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Mexico and Belgium. Other than the app, Rdio can also be experienced as a website. Plus it also has customers for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, BlackBerry, Android and Windows Phone-based devices, which can support stream and play music.

Besides this Rdio also provides native desktop customer application for both Windows and Mac OS X. As far as the library of the service is concerned, it features content from top record labels along with IODA, The Orchad, INgrooves, IRIS Distribution, Finetunes, Catapult, BFM Digital and Merlin Networks. Moreover, social networking is also offered by Rdio, where users can not only follow others, but can also share playlists.
