Apple’s iTunes gift cards have been widely available and extremely popular for quite some time, prompting many Android users to wonder when Google would introduce gift cards of their own. The Droid-heads can all rejoice, as Google Play gift cards have officially been introduced.

The news won’t be coming as a total surprise to the many that were aware that Google’s latest Play Store APK had overwhelming evidence that gift cards were on the way. It is however still a huge move for the company and Google Play users, who now represent the majority of the Smartphone market.

There is no telling where the cards will be sold. Our best guess would be that they will be featured at the same type of retail locations as iTunes cards, which includes but is not limited to Wal-Mart, Future Shop and Best Buy. We sincerely hope that the gift cards will also be made available world round considering that Android devices are legitimately internationally used and enjoyed.

For now, here is a photo of what a $25 Google gift card looks like courtesy of Android Central.
