A few days ago the leading adult app store, MiKandi, has declared that it will launch the first porn app for Google Glass that will enable users to create, upload and share pictures of their own content with their contacts. Explaining the reason behind using Glass the co-founder of the company, Jennifer McEwen, said while talking to Mashable that, “Unlike other hands-free recording devices, wearing Glass is easy and familiar. Because of that, you can forget about the technology on your head and be in the moment. The result is an authentic look at the wearer’s experiences.” So finally on Monday, June 3rd MiKandi rolled out its first porn app “Tits and Glass” for Google Glass. However, it appears that Google did not like MiKandi’s effort at all. Therefore, the Mountain View-based company has banned the porn app just a few hours after it was launched.
Google banned the app by making some instant changes to its Glass Platform Developer Policies, which literally appeared online just hours after MiKandi released its porn app. Here is what Google has said about the “Sexually Explicit Material” in its latest policy.
“Sexually Explicit Material: We don’t allow Glassware content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material. Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child pornography. If we become aware of content with child pornography, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and delete the Google Accounts of those involved with the distribution.”
Many thought after this change in policy by Google that MiKandi’s Glass app would now go to waste, but the leading porn app store surprised everyone when it posted over its blog that “Tits and Glass” needs “change”. How in the world MiKandi will modify its app now is the big question at the moment because a porn app is nothing without “nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material”. At the moment, MiKandi has not lifted the curtain from this mystery, but it is expected that it may follow the footsteps of those, who had tackled a similar situation on Apple app store.
The CEO of Mikandai, Jesse Adams revealed through a post that Google did not give them a warning regarding the new provision it had made in its policy:
“When we received our Glass and started developing our app 2 weeks ago, we went through the policy very carefully to make sure we were developing the app within the terms. We double checked again last week when making the site live on the Internet and available for install for testing during last week’s announcement. We were not notified of any changes and still haven’t been notified by Google. We also double checked our emails to see if any notifications of policy changes were announced, but we haven’t found any such emails.”
On the other hand, many believe that Google has made a smart move by making this change in its policy, as giving consent to porn apps could have put the search giant in some serious legal problems.
