With all RIM has riding on their upcoming operating platform BlackBerry 10 and the updated devices that will optimize it, any news regarding the two is always worth sharing. The man in charge of bringing RIM back to respectable relevance, CEO Thorsten Heins recently shared in an interview with AllThingsD the specific number of Smartphones the company will be releasing in early 2013.

The product line will centre around two types of devices – a large touch-screen type device (Dev Alpha’s final product) as well as a revamped Bold-style BlackBerry most likely featuring the iconic QWERTY keyboard. Each product style will feature three levels of devices ranging from entry level to a highly competitive high end device.

The decision to release both styles of devices is probably the best move as it challenges the top end devices while also updating the style of device that is their most popular to date. It allows them to appeal to different groups while also debuting their BB10 platform.

There is no fixed release dates as yet, however we know they are not likely to arrive until next year. Thorsten also mentioned in the interview that RIM had realised the need to try to win back its enterprise clients as well as those in need of dynamic work and personal devices appeasing to the Bring Your Own Device trend.
