South Korean manufacturer Samsung finally decided to make the Galaxy S IV Active official, after it appeared in the leaked images a few days ago. Samsung announced the new handset on Wednesday, June 5, which is a new variant of the most successful smartphone to date, the Galaxy S IV. The S IV Active is not only different from its sibling in design, but in several other aspects as well. For instance Galaxy S IV Active is water and dust resistant, which will enable the users to take it with them anywhere. Here is how Samsung has described this and a few other features of the new handset in its official press release:

“The GALAXY S4 Active has qualified protection from dust and water, so you never have to leave the device at home during a long day at the beach or dusty hike. The fully sealed design keeps dust particles out and protects against water damage for up to 30 minutes of submergence at a depth of one meter. Equipped with a water-resistant earphone jack, the GALAXY S4 Active frees you to use earphones in more adventurous conditions, in the same way you’ve used them in normal ones.  Whether capturing every moment of a wild rafting trip or taking a great underwater photo in the pool, the device’s unique construction lets users capture amazing moments previously impossible using a normal smartphone.”

The Galaxy S IV Active boasts a quad core 1.9GHz processor, 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 443 PPI, 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front facing camera, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storing capacity that can be increased up to 64GB through microSD card. The dimensions of Galaxy S IV Active are 139.7mm x 71.3mm x 9.1mm, while the weight of the device is 151 grams. S IV Active sports Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi ac as well as NFC, IrDA, Bluetooth 4.0 (LE) and USB 2.0.
