About a week ago TQ informed readers that just like Samsung competitor HTC has also developed a smaller version of its flagship smartphone, HTC One. The breaking news came out after images of devices surfaced online. Besides this, it was also revealed in the report that the smaller variant of HTC One will most probably be called HTC One Mini. However, that report did not give any hint about the launch date of the smaller iteration of HTC One. On Wednesday, June 12th Bloomberg came up with a new publication which divulged that the media outlet has gained information regarding the HTC One Mini from “two people briefed on the plans who asked not to be identified because details aren’t public.”
The report also revealed that the smartphone will boost a 4.3-inch display, whereas the resolution of the device will be lower when compared to the bigger version of HTC One. In addition to this, the HTC One Mini will also have a “less powerful” Qualcomm chipset. Quoting the sources, Bloomberg’s latest publication also claimed that the HTC One Mini will hit the stores “by August.”
“The new model features a 4.3-inch screen, compared with 4.7 inches for the original version, and will go on sale by August, according to two people briefed on the plans who asked not to be identified because details aren’t public. The device will probably have a less-powerful Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) processor and lower-resolution screen than the flagship, said one of the people.”
In contrast to Bloomberg’s report, previous reports had more details on the specs of the HTC One Mini, as they asserted that it will sport a 720p 4.3-inch display along with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storing capacity and 4-megapixel ‘UltraPixel’ rear camera. However, since Bloomberg’s report regarding the HTC One Mini has not received any confirmation therefore it cannot be said with surety whether the Taiwanese smartphone maker will roll out the device in August or not.
But one thing is for sure that the trend of introducing smaller variants of flagship smartphones is picking up with the time and it is expected that after HTC other companies will also follow the footsteps of Samsung, which has recently announced Galaxy S IV Mini a smaller iteration of original S IV. So let’s see who will first roll out a smaller version of their original flagship smartphone after HTC, which is looking to give its rivals a tough time in every space with the launch of new handsets.
