Finding delicious and high quality food is not an easy task and having it delivered to your door step is even more difficult. However, Vancouver-based Lazymeal has now solved this problem, as the innovative website from the startup has enabled users to enjoy high quality food from highly ranked restaurants delivered at their home or office within a set time limit. Now all hungry customers have to do is just sit back and wait for the order, as Lazymeal does all the heavy lifting. Users can easily select their favourite dishes from Lazymeal’s website and then place their orders to enjoy food in the comfort of their work place or house.
Talking to TechVibes, cofounder of Lazymeal, Shervin Enayati said that, “We are not trying to have any kind of restaurant. We want to maintain a balance between service and quality. Our requirement is that they have to have delivery. Without delivery it is not going to work. We find the best delivery restaurants in town, get their menu digitized for our platforms and from there you can just order.”
Users will only find the best restaurants on the Lazymeal website which were handpicked by the staff by using Urbanspoon and Yelp ratings. Users will also be able to order different types of cuisines through Lazymeal, as they can find Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Greek and several other fares through their site.
Although the food delivery business is not good in Vancouver as compared to the other metropolitan cities of Canada, the team behind Lazymeal believes that with the passage of time as the population in the city grows, demand for food delivery will automatically increase. Still Lazymeal has adopted a sophisticated approach and enhanced its website with beautiful images of the food along with statistics in order to lure more customers.
Shedding light on this issue, lead technologist of Lazymeal, Ryan Charmley said that “If you go to a bigger city, like New York, delivery is so ingrained into daily life of people there. There are bicycle couriers delivering food everywhere and all these little boutique shops offering their own little delivery. It is a very convenient way to access food when you are busy.”
The founder of Lazymeal got the idea of starting this startup back in 2011 when due to poor weather conditions nearly all phone lines in Vancouver were out of service, which made ordering over a landline almost impossible, as majority of the restaurants used to take orders with landlines.
So Enayati thought that “There has to be a better, more efficient way,” to order food. “We moved from building software for clients to building software for ourselves. We evaluated the market, realized what is missing in the current food ordering market. It was a market space that has already seen traction, it wasn’t one with zero activity, but we realized there was a lot of improvement left to be done in the food ordering experience.”
