Canadian research company Ipsos Reid recently polled a group of 2,000 Canadians between March and April of this year regarding their Smartphone and wireless devices.
According to their findings, Canadians used their Smartphones 222 times per month, averaging 2.8 hours on a regular weekday. Tablet and eReader usage were tracked as well however a somewhat surprising trend emerged.
As compared to last year’s survey results, usage of wireless devices was down overall. As compared to the 2.8 Smartphone hours, Canadians polled logged 3.3 hours in 2011. Tablet browsing and usage also fell, moving from 2.3 hours to 2.4 hours daily with 115 usages a month. eReaders brought up the rear posting 38 monthly uses and 1.8 hours daily.
The 2011 figures were all-time highs and the fact that a drop off followed could represent Canadians finding their comfort zone with regards to their mobile devices. It could just represent a small break before apps and their ability to affect our lives makes our phones and tablets an even bigger part of our lives.
