A series of face to face meetings and elusive negotiations have taken place between technology giants Samsung and Apple but there are no signs of settlements between the two parties yet reported iponecanada.ca. Apple and Samsung have remained involved in a series of conflicts over the last few years and it will be interesting to see if the two parties can reach some sort of agreement following their negotiations talks. There are rumours that discussions are still going on between the two tech giants even though the talks may have proved to be inconclusive.

The Wall Street Journal claims that most details of the negotiations are contained in a 161 page ITC document. The document reveals that Apple made a settlement offer to Samsung after it won the California trial earlier this year.

“Most details about the recent talks are contained in the 161-page ITC document explaining its June 4 ruling, with most proposed settlement terms redacted. It states that Apple made a settlement offer to Samsung in September, shortly after its win in the California trial. But the most serious of talks appear to have taken place between December and March, according to the document”, The Wall Street Journal said.

According to the ITC document, the most reliable and serious talks between the two parties took place between January and March 2013. In January, representatives from Apple and Samsung met in California but discussions did not end up in a settlement. Meetings were again held in February and the two companies came up with a memorandum of understanding document, showing signs of potential agreement. Unfortunately, the senior management from both companies did not accept the terms and conditions.

“The document suggests that Apple and Samsung met for rounds of face-to-face negotiations in mid-January, but the companies couldn’t come to an agreement. The two companies again agreed to meet in person in February, after which representatives for the two companies drafted a “memorandum of understanding” suggesting a potential settlement. The memorandum was forwarded to senior leaders at the companies, however there are no indications in the document that management of the companies accepted the terms. The two companies continued negotiations until March, but talks appear to have broken down soon after. The ITC document indicates that on March 22, Samsung asked to reopen negotiations, but Apple hadn’t responded to it by the time of the decision”, said iphonecanada.ca.
