Apple had to face an unusual situation when last Thursday the Developer Centre of the Cupertino-based company initially went offline due to an intrusion. However, instead of informing developers about the situation right away, Apple waited till Sunday and then informed them that their personal information have been compromised, as it seems that it was accessed by an intruder. As a result of this hack, Apple decided to completely overhaul its Developer Centre website. Apple has finally uploaded a new system status page for developers and also is slowly started rolling out upgraded services.

Besides this, Apple has also recently written a letter to developers in which the company has mentioned that it was getting ready to commence progressively reactivate numerous pieces of the centre. In fact, after writing that letter, Apple has also restored the Bug Reporter. Apple would have not been able to do all this if one of the researchers had not activated its alarms, but some people have their reservations. Nevertheless, the researcher has taken the credit for alarming the company about the situation.

However, the best thing that happened was that Apple had apologised to the developers in a letter it has recently sent to them and explained the entire scenario in detail. Here is what Apple has written in the letter to developers:

“We apologize for the significant inconvenience caused by our developer website downtime. We’ve been working around the clock to overhaul our developer systems, update our server software, and rebuild our entire database. While we complete the work to bring our systems back online, we want to share the latest with you.

We plan to roll out our updated systems, starting with Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, Apple Developer Forums, Bug Reporter, pre-release developer libraries, and videos first. Next, we will restore software downloads, so that the latest betas of iOS 7, Xcode 5, and OS X Mavericks will once again be available to program members. We’ll then bring the remaining systems online. To keep you up to date on our progress, we’ve created a status page to display the availability of our systems.

If your program membership is set to expire during this period, it will be extended and your app will remain on the App Store. If you have any other concerns about your account, please contact us.

Thank you for your continued patience.”
