Previously, SamMobile shared the specs for Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch and also hinted that the new device is likely to be announced in the first week of next month at IFA trade event in Berlin along with Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Tab III. Now Bloomberg has come up with a new report, which backs SamMobile’s prediction regarding the launch of Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Gear smartwatch. According to the new report, the two new devices will see first light on September 4th at the IFA event, but the smartwatch from the South Korean OEM would not boast a flexible display. Apart from this Bloomberg also reported that sources have claimed that Samsung is continuing to work on developing a “bendable screen” for its smartwatch.
After that SamMobile issued some more details regarding the release windows of Galaxy Gear and Galaxy Note III. Here are some excerpts from SamMobile’s report, “…the third-generation Note will start shipping in the same month it is announced, while the smartwatch will arrive in the market from October.
Our source mentions week 36 as the likely time when the Note III will begin shipping, while the smartwatch will be shipped around week 40, though a delay of a week or two may happen, depending on region. It is also confirmed that Samsung is dropping the 16GB storage variant, which is great news looking at how the 16GB variant of the S4 leaves little usable space for the end-user (and also because lower than 32GB of built-in storage on flagship devices just doesn’t cut it any more).”
However, as far as reports regarding making calls from Galaxy Gear smartwatch are concerned, it seems that they may not prove true, as The Verge, a reputable media outlet, has reported that its sources claim that the watch will make connection with the smartphones instead of working as a phone with its own SIM card.
Nevertheless, at this point in time it cannot be said with surety which report about the Galaxy Gear or Galaxy Note III is correct, as Samsung do not comment on such reports before the release of its devices. Therefore, we have to wait for more leaked information or ultimately the launch of the devices at the start of next month to know the exact details about the new devices. Till than we at TQ will keep you update with any new report about the forthcoming devices of Samsung.
