The search engine giant Google made it known on Tuesday, August 20th through a post on its Google Maps blog that it has finally added the technology from newly acquired firm Waze to its mapping service. Now users of the service will also be able to see real-time reports of incidents, apart from directions thanks to the talent and technology of Waze, which the Mountain View-based company has acquired back in June. Waze’s acquisition by Google was made official right after the buy out but by integrating the technology of the recently bought company swiftly, the Google Maps service has stunned everyone.

Now as a result of this integration whenever Waze users will report about an incident like accident, road closure or any other issue, Google Maps users whether using its Android version of iOS version will also know about the incident instantly. Here is what Google has said about the latest addition of technology to its mapping service in its post.

“Users of Google Maps for Mobile will now benefit from real time incident reports from Waze users. This means when Wazers report accidents, construction, road closures and more on Waze, the updates will also appear on the Google Maps app for Android and iOS.”

Initially the newly added features of Google Maps will only be offered to the users of certain territories such as UK, US, France, Brazil, Columbia, Chile, Argentina, Germany, Ecuador, Panama, Mexico, Switzerland and Peru. Besides integrating the new technology in Google Maps, the search engine company has also made it known at the time of announcing the acquisition of Waze that it will also add Google Search to Waze’s Android and iOS apps.

On the other hand, Google has already given Waze Map Editor access to its Street View imagery. Here is what Google has described about the new integration in its blog post:

“The Waze community will also benefit from two new features. First, the Android and iOS versions of the app have been updated with Google Search. Wazers will now have access to even more search results when navigating. Google Search joins other search providers making it easy to find favourite businesses and any local address… after a successful beta test, the Waze Map Editor now includes Google Street View and satellite imagery to build out the map and make it easier to correct map errors reported by the community.”
