For those worried that RIM would not throw everything into their upcoming devices and mobile platform, this could be huge. According to BlackBerryOS, a highly reputable source has received confirmation from both RIM and Qualcomm that the company’s upcoming devices will feature Snapdragon quadcore S4 Pro chips.
For those to whom that is little more than gibberish, Samsung’s awesome Galaxy S III runs on an S4 chipset, the Pro series little brother. Mobile Syrup shares that the Pro series features an Adreno 320 graphics processor along with two Krait cores that run at 1.5Ghz. That type of power allows for battery efficient operation even with a rumored 4.3-4.5” screen featuring a 1280×768 pixel resolution (TQ was on it).
The Adreno 320 is said to be twice as fast as the S III’s Adreno 225, making for a seriously powerful device. It provides full 1080p video performance and supports any air interface you can think of. According to a source familiar with Mobile Syrup, Qualcomm plans on following up the Pro chipset with an even better S5 series. That will not come available until mid-2013, allowing RIM enough time to give its S4 Pro powered BB10 devices time to earn its keep in the market.
