Just over a month after releasing Video on Instagram, the image sharing social network has just announced the release of Instagram 4.1 on the App Store which will have video import from your library and also automatic straightening for pictures. Instagram latest version has video imports for mobiles supporting Android and iPhone. Furthermore, it also announced a special automatic photo straightening functionality for iOS users. Instagram 4.1 has taken its previous video functionality that was released in June to the next level and has introduced an open, edit and footage sharing functionalities on the pictures taken from a user’s phones camera. The functionalities also include trimming which the user can find quite handy at times.

The footage made on the phone can be converted on square aspect-ratio as well as trimmed. Instagram has also included new filters and the new Instragram 4.1 also supports Android 4.0 ( Ice Cream Sandwich) and other latest software after the Android 4.0 update. The company claims that Instagram has been hot with consumers and Android smartphone owners have requested the company to make Instagram available for the Google built mobile OS.

Instagram has many attractive features including one of our favorite, adding multiple clips to make interesting videos. At least this feature is available on the iOS. Users can now import multiple videos from their galleries and combine them to make a mini-movie. But the videos have to be trimmed down to 15 seconds, a downside to the feature.

Android Phones will have to wait for a bit before they get their hands on a few of interesting features currently on the iOS version. One of these features is the ability to straighten crooked photos. This feature seems to be quite useful to prevent skewed shots. Furthermore Instragram also has a manual control allowing the user to play around with phones themselves. Photos from both the app itself and the gallery photos can be adjusted however the user feels and this feature sits besides the automatic straightening feature quite well as it gives the user power to edit pictures however he pleases.

For the new import video feature, users will be able to select a clip, trim it down to a selection and also square crop it as well, on top of adding a filter of course. For the straightening feature, users just tap the new straightening icon, and then will have access to a level to make slanted images perfectly horizontal again.
