The social analytics company, Trendrr made it known on Wednesday, August 28th that it has been acquired by popular micro-blogging website Twitter. As a result of this move, Twitter will be able to further enhance its offerings because it already has association with several media companies and it is also commonly used in different industries, which includes the entertainment industry as well. However, after this acquisition Trendrr will not accept new business from anyone, but it will continue to serve its existing contracts, says founder Mark Ghumein.

Ghumein shared few more details regarding the acquisition through a post over Trendrr Blog, in which he wrote that:

“Over the last five years we have led the way in working with real-time data and television, unlocking the power and value of engagement around TV and creating compelling media experiences around content.

That’s why we are excited to be joining Twitter’s world class team, enabling us to realize bigger opportunities that drive better experiences for users, media and marketers – across Twitter and around the globe.

Having sat at this intersection of TV and social media for years, we’ve analyzed data from lots of platforms. What makes Twitter uniquely compelling among these platforms is its connection to the live moment — people sharing what’s happening, when it’s happening, to the world. We think we can help amplify even stronger the power of that connection to the moment inside of Twitter.

Curatorr, our Twitter certified product, will work with media companies, marketers, and display ecosystem partners to create compelling user experiences – continuing to pursue our initial charter of focusing on the real-time aspects of TV and media.

We intend to honour existing partner contracts for Trendrr.TV but we do not plan to establish new ones going forward. Our success has been a tireless team effort involving innovative people and amazing clients pushing us to excellence.”

However, Ghumein did not disclose how much cash he has received from Twitter in order to finalise this deal. Nevertheless, significant thing about this acquisition is that it will bring both product and talent to Twitter, as the microblogging site has made the deal to bring both staff and analytic services of Trendrr. This will also bring a patent for technology that Trendrr has invented to collect and process data through communications network. Trendrr received the US patent for this technology back in 2012.

So it appears that Twitter has made a good addition to its portfolio with Trendrr.
