BDC Venture Capital Invests $5 million into Canadian Firm TandemLaunch

TandemLaunch, an idea generation and communication company based in Montreal has raised $5 million in funding from BDC venture Capital. The fresh venture capital has an additional $5 million from private angel investors and advisors. The company aims to close the round at a very nice $15 million figure.

 

TandemLaunch is known for commercializing and advising entrepreneurs and potential consumer electronic brands. According to Helge Seetzen, The CEO of TandemLaunch, the company is very excited to join hands with BDC venture Capital. They not only will prove to be great investors but also have the ability to be great mentors. For them BDC venture capital might turn out to be the ideal investor to help the ideation company grow in the future.

 

BDC Venture Capital’s Jérôme Nycz said that, “TandemLaunch has a strong capacity for business acceleration and an enviable track record of sourcing projects with high commercialization potential from university research from across the world. We believe this investment will provide many tangible, positive impacts for the Canadian venture capital ecosystem and has a high probability of performing strongly from a return standpoint, especially given the large size and growth of the consumer electronics industry.”

 

TandemLaunch is the brain child of company CEO and founder Helge Seetzen, who according to TechVibes is an “an award-winning German technologist and serial entrepreneur who came to Canada to study physics at the University of British Columbia. After university Seetzen became CTO of BrightSide Technologies, a Vancouver-based developer of high dynamic range imaging-based electronic display technologies, in 2004. BrightSide was later acquired by Dolby Laboratories in 2007.”

 

TandemLaunch was opened in Montreal’s Westmoust by Seetzen, who was 35 at the time. Now the two story building has numerous employees trying to develop technology solutions. They offer early funding to young entrepreneurs and a gateway for their private businesses to flourish. By giving firsthand experience in the market, TandemLaunch makes sure that they make a difference and give young developers a chance to prove themselves on a large scale.

 

TechVibes staes that, “Some of TandemLaunch’s initial portfolio companies include Mirametrix, a manufacturer of portable, high performance gaze-tracking devices developed by Dr. Craig Hennessey and a small team of researchers. In the new world of intelligent televisions, viewers will perform functions such as changing the channel with a simple eye gaze, using Mirametrix’s technology.”

 

TandemLaunch also offers other expertise such as sound mixing. Using swift processes with machine learning and automated algorithms, they create real time, authentic, intelligent and quality mixes. Musicians get to play around with their records and get to be sound engineers without the trouble of traditional methods.
