Thalmic Labs is on a hiring spree and is doing whatever it can in order to strengthen their armory. A huge announcement came in earlier this week on Wednesday, 14th of August, when the company announced that they have added two former executives of the telecom giant, Blackberry to their current team. These heavyweights are Mike Galbraith, former SVP of Operations of Blackberry and David Perston, former Senior Director of New Product Introduction Outsourcing. Both these personnel have large amounts of experience in the marketing and supply chain world and will have a lot to offer for their newest employers and its comparatively younger staff at Thalmic Labs.
Blackberry has had a rough patch recently and has lost three executives this past week. This has certainly jolted the giant company. According to a report, this all is a big initiative taken over at Blackberry to stabilize their once mighty empire. It’s a sort of a cleaning process on their behalf and hence a lot of executives and employees are leaving the company as Blackberry ponders over its latest decision to go private.
TechVibes says, “Mike Galbraith becomes CFO of MYO. In addition, David Perston, former Director of Operations, Senior Director of Global Technology and Services, and Senior Director of New Product Introduction Outsourcing at Blackberry, joins the team as Vice President of Manufacturing.”
The biggest challenges arguably for companies that deal with hardware are that of the finances and supply chain management. These two new employees have a lot of experience in these two particular fields and will help the company a lot and enhance their startups.
“In less than a year, our company has grown from just three founders to 30 employees and counting,” said Stephen Lake, CEO and co-founder of Thalmic Labs. “We are changing the face of human-computer interaction with a unique team of talented employees who have joined us from everywhere from start-ups to multinational corporations. Our team members are excited to continue pushing the boundaries of current technology and are enthusiastic about introducing our first product, MYO, to users around the world.”
TechVibes adds that, “Thalmic Labs attributes its rapid growth and success to the thriving and emerging technology hub in the Kitchener-Waterloo region and expects to have more than 50 employees by the end of 2013.
In June 2013 Thalmic Labs raised $14.5 million, the largest Series A round raised by any startup after going through Silicon Valley’s Y Combinator program.”
