There is no feeling of happiness greater than the moment you recover your stolen or misplaced smartphone. Not only because of the fact that it was a thousand dollar device, but also because of how much time an individual puts into making it perfect. Luckily for those who are constantly finding it hard to figure out where they put their phone last, Google has announced that it will be creating ‘Find My Android’.

This will be nearly the same in terms of functioning as Apple’s Find My iPhone application, and is expected to be released sometime later in August in the Google Play Store. Now Google will play a major role in helping users track down, ring and even wipe clean that smartphones and tablets running the Android operating system.

With most smartphones just being misplaced on a regular basis, the ring feature is definitely going to be one that makes the lives of many users easier.

“If you ended up dropping your phone between those couch cushions, Android Device Manager lets you quickly ring your phone at maximum volume so you can find it,” wrote Android Product Manager Benjamin Poiesz in an official blog post.

When the ring feature is not something that you will be able to benefit from, locating it on a map in real time will eventually allow you to recover it from wherever it currently is. Not being able to recover the phone has been another major issue, which is also stressful because of the sensitive data on the phone. This is why Google has decided to also incorporate a wipe-clean feature which should be used as a last resort option.

“And in the event that your phone or tablet is out of earshot (say, at that restaurant you left it at last night), you can locate it on a map in real time.” “While losing your phone can be stressful, Android Device Manager can help you keep your data from ending up in the wrong hands,” reassured Poiesz. “If your phone can’t be recovered, or has been stolen, you can quickly and securely erase all of the data on your device.”

With a highly accurate Google maps program backing it up, the Android Device Manager should definitely be one that will receive praise for being able to do what the makers actually claim it to. The Android Device Manager will require Android 2.2 or above.
