We at TQ are big fans of Old Spice, particularly their clever advertising and marketing strategies and campaigns. Whether involving Ray Lewis, The Man Your Man Could Smell Like or movie star Terry Crews, the ads are always well written and produced. The ‘Believe in your Smellf’ Olympic ads were absolutely epic as well.

They are also extremely popular. The Old Spice ad involving The Man Your Man Could Smell Like has exceeded 42 million YouTube views, an absolutely mind boggling number.

Old Spice is hoping to strike gold with their latest ad, adding a level of interactivity made possible by their work with the people at Vimeo. Featuring Expendables II star Terry Crews, the ad features the muscular thespian making music with a variety of instruments connected via sensors to his muscles. The song gets going quickly with the cacophony of instrumental sound being interspersed with Mr. Crews screaming ‘muscles’.

Once he has done his thing, Crews’ invites you to make your own music using a keyboard device. Pressing on various keys activates particular instruments or gets Crews to say things like sausages and animals. The whole thing is a lot of fun and if you take the time to get good at it, you can share your goods. The ad allows you to record your Old Spice song and share it via your Vimeo account.

Thanks to the good people at Huffington Post, you can find a map of the keyboard controls at Mediabistro.
