Although many previous Samsung products have featured quad core system-on-chips (SoCs), the Canadian versions of said devices (the Galaxy S III and Note) have only been equipped with dual core Snapdragon S4 chips instead. Although this has still made for potent devices, Canucks can’t be blamed for wishing for a little more device horsepower to take advantage of everything Samsung’s devices offer.
According to the good people at Mobile Syrup, there is a chance that Canada may finally see a quad core Samsung Galaxy Note II. Based on the goings on at IFA 2012 in Berlin, it was noted that the Galaxy S III and Note II featured the quad-core Exynos 4412 processors along with a separate LTE chip. Up till now, all LTE Samsung devices were thought to feature Qualcomm chips because Samsung’s own Exynos chips had not been created or designed to operate on the latest high speed networks.
This of course no longer appears to be the case. Although the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip has been popular with users and critics alike, there is without question a great deal of hope that Samsung is able to pair its Exynos chip into the Note II for the North American market. The move would represent a solid upgrade over the current Note’s offering particularly in the ever expanding world of mobile gaming.
