A mobile app that learns your interests and characteristics based on your activity and interaction, AppHero is certainly no slouch. In fact, one could say that the app to recommend other apps is a representation of its founder and CEO, 18 year old Jordan Satok.
The startup, which secured $1.8 million earlier this summer from OMERS Ventures (lead) along with Golden Venture Partners, Eniac Ventures as well as other seed fund and angel investors. According to Satok, AppHero was created to eliminate the time and work required to hunt down, review and compare the plethora of apps that are out there instead bringing ideal recommendations to you instead.
Satok told the good people at TechVibes the following regarding his innovative app:
“Consumers have been paralyzed by the sheer volume of apps, and often miss out on the ones that are truly best for them. We have focused on building an innovative recommendation platform with a simple user experience to match users with apps they will love. This new funding allows us to continue growing our team to make our social recommendation platform more intelligent and expand to other verticals.”
Incredibly, Satok is the youngest ever CEO to obtain VC funding. In an awesome occurrence, Satok took the mantle from another Canadian, Brian Wong of Kiip fame (TQ was on it), who was 19 when he raised $200K.
Versions 1.2 of the AppHero iPhone and iPad app have been approved by Apple. Improvements include a cleaner user interface experience as well as Facebook integration. The latter allows users to invite friends from Facebook in order to view their apps and recommend others to them, increasing the social aspect of the app.
