The internet was ablaze this morning as Apple finally confirmed what has long been expected (TQ was on it), an iPhone 5 press event on September 12. The announcement came by way of a clever image within an invitation sent to various media sources and tech blogs.

Apple and CEO Tim Cook will rely on the good vibes in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, a favourite launch point for the company. The event will begin at 10 in the morning. Apple finds themself in an enviable yet difficult position as they approach the introduction of their most anticipated device to date. The company has enjoyed an iconic status and fanboy following however their latest phone faces incredibly high expectations. Samsung has made tremendous strides, particularly with their Galaxy S III and recently announced Note II device (TQ was on it) throwing the gauntlet down on Apple.

Apple is expected to announce another event in the coming weeks as they plan to debut their smaller 7” iPad, which has been dubbed the Mini. The invitation image features a large 12 akin to the font and look of the iPhone calendar app casting a shadow that reads as the number 5 and the caption ‘It’s almost here.’ Ain’t that the truth.
