The Angry Birds phenomenon is as likely to slow down as Tim Tebow media coverage this weekend is. The addictive series of games featuring angry birds dropping chaos on egg stealing pigs has taken a role reversal for its latest iteration.
Due to release later this month, Angry Birds : Bad Piggies’ Egg Recipes gives gamers the other side of the story. The game play will differ from previous versions of the game, something that creator studio Rovio has been doing extremely well thus far. Angry Birds Space (TQ was on it) and its Curiosity Mars Rover version (TQ was on it) incorporated anti-gravity elements as well as facts about the Red Planet.
Bad Piggies is believed to feature levels that prompt players to build various ‘vehicles and contraptions’ in order to help the pigs complete the required tasks. According to Rovio’s CEO Mikael Hed, fans of the series have been waiting to learn about the pigs for quite some time:
“There’s a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we’ve been constantly asked: what about the pigs’ side of the story. Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes.”
Bad Piggies will be made available for iOS, Android and Mac devices on September 27 with Windows Phone, Windows 8 and PC versions following soon after. All in all the game series and its associated merchandise and licensing agreement earned $106.3 million in 2011 revenue. Enjoy the trailer video below.
