Canadians that saw the brand new Sony Xperia Tablet S unveiled at IFA 2012 in Berlin can now pre order the device from the Japanese manufacturer. When the Sony Xperia Tablet S was announced it went up for sale immediately in the United Kingdom. North America had to wait a little longer but residents of the US and Canada can get the slick device directly from Sony’s online store. The 16GB version is priced at $399.99 and for another $100 buyers can get their hands on the 32GB device.
The Sony Xperia Tablet S will come with Google’s very own Ice Cream Sandwich. However, Sony has stated that there will be an upgrade down the line to OS 4.1 Jelly Bean but no set time has been given. Other specs for the tablet include a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The plastic look and feel of the previous version has been thrown out and the company has opted for light weight aluminum design. Consumers can also grab accessories for the tablet directly from Sony and most of these are on sale along with the device. Most of the add-ons are pretty slick looking and many potential buyers have shown interest in the keyboard cover that was used in Berlin which is also available for $99. Since the device is still only in the pre-order stage the choice of Accessories is slim but shoppers can get their hands on leather covers, charging cradles, docking stands, tablet stands, and screen protectors to get the most out of their Sony Xperia Tablet S.
The price for Sony’s latest tablet is not the cheapest but the electronics manufacturer has tried to integrate the tablet with its other offering making it a pretty decent offer. Users can utilize Sony’s Playstation certified games, Music Unlimited and Movies Unlimited services to get their entertainment fix. A cool tool is the remote feature that comes with the tablet allowing it to be used to control any Sony Bravia television.
The shipping date is scheduled to be September 7 and most consumers should receive it by the next day.
