PlayStation fans in Canada will have to wait just a little bit longer for the brand new 3G PlayStation Vita. The hand held gaming platform from Sony has been released in other places around the world but is still to make its debut on Canadian shores. Rogers Communications is looking to remedy that situation by launching the latest version of the Vita in October.
The 3G PS Vita will offer a lot of connectivity to it users. Users of the device will be able to log in to their favorite social networks from anywhere they receive a 3G signal. The connectivity will also be a major factor in some games that offer asynchronous multiplayer via the 3G network. To get all this wireless connectivity buyers in the US had to shell out $50 extra and according to Sony Canada they device will retail for $299 here.
There is also talk about Canadian getting the 3G Vita in a bundle pack with games like Gravity Rush and Unit 13. Interestingly this deal is only a limited time offer and is also priced for $299.99. Player that wish to get their hands on the offer will need to hit the stores early as the bundled package is slated to be launched on October 2.
The announcement of the 3G Vita has met a lukewarm response from Canadian gamers and Rogers may be looking to use the portable gaming console as a way to get more subscribers for its wireless data plans. Currently the 3G packages for Rogers range from $15 to $30 for 30-day packages. They offer 250MB or 5GB data packages that can be consumed on the PS Vita.
